Using a Windows 11 laptop, the cursor will randomly jump to another location when editing in Writer. This may be related to using a usb mouse plugged into a laptop with a touchpad. While the cursor can be brought back to the proper location using the mouse or arrow keys, it may jump again without warning. This only happens in LibreOffice Writer and no other word processing or text entry program.
Thank you for the report. Can you please check if you have disabled the touchpad while typing on Windows? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-turn-off-disabling-touchpad-when-typing/26281ee9-bcc6-4138-8170-8e2a8e2c19ee If you can still reproduce the issue even with the touchpad disabled, please share your version information copied from Help > About LibreOffice.
Dennis replied via email: > I discovered two mouse drivers but no touchpad driver, and disabled one of the mouse drivers. Both the touchpad and the mouse still work. Perhaps this has solved the problem, but it is too early to be sure, given the random nature of the cursor jumping events. Thanks Dennis. Please let us know if the issue doesn't pop up anymore, and double-check that all drivers are up to date too. And please reply on the ticket rather than by email. I'll leave in "needinfo" status until then.
Dennis replied via email: > I was finally able to disable the touchpad. The cursor jumping problem has gone way and there is no Writer bug of that nature. Thank you for your help. Thank you Dennis! Closing as "not a bug".
