Description Telesto 2023-07-24 17:56:34 UTC
Description:
UI: Shading around pages is gone

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Zoom out

Actual Results:
No shading/ flat look

Expected Results:
I personally prefer 'depth' instead of the 'flat' look. But maybe a matter of taste

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

@Heiko
Did the look change on purpose or by accident?
Comment 4 Heiko Tietze 2023-07-25 07:35:53 UTC
Mike worked on this, IIRC.

No I didn't :) You could confuse with my work on glow / soft edge effects, which is completely unrelated...

I could reproduce as well just today, randomly, in 7.6.0.2. Not sure how I got there though. Probably related is the invisible borders of a borderless table. (See screenshot of same document, shown without issue on left in recent master build, in 7.6.0.2 on right.)

Issue is related to the profile, but doesn't affect earlier versions even though they use the same profile (tried with 7.5.5 and 7.4.7).
Profile reset fixes it.

I take that back, I can now see it in 7.4.7 and 7.5.5, and even 6.2.

I changed the earliest version based on comment 7. Stephane, please change back, if it's wrong.

I've put it back to 7.6.0.2 because I think that's the version that modifies the profile, which then affects other versions installed in parallel if they share the same profile.
I haven't seen any evidence of earlier versions _causing_ the issue.

This is what I get with GTK in 24.2. No flat.
I tried to bibisect, but shadow is in all versions of 7.6.

Yeah, we're still unsure how to reproduce the issue... And I haven't seen it popup for a few days...

Let's close as "worksforme" for now, until someone can provide steps to reproduce, instead of letting it linger.
