Description Joe 2023-07-25 06:42:24 UTC
Description:
When I start LO and open a document, in the navigation pane on the right, no text is visible. If I go to settings, no text is visible there either, but I can navigate and see text inside of drop down lists. In this way I can change from light to dark mode. When dark mode engages, the text and navigation tree are visible, and if I switch back to light mode, they remain visible. I need to toggle dark/light each time I start the app.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LO writer (light mode should be the current setting)
2. Open the navigation pane... text is not visible in the outline (see screenshot)
3. Go to settings > view... text is not visible here. Trial and error... change the setting from light to dark mode and click apply. Dark mode engages.
4. Toggle dark mode back to light mode.
5. Fonts in navigation pane and settings now appears.

Actual Results:
Text in settings and navigation tree is not visible until dark/light mode is toggled.

Expected Results:
Text appears in settings and navigation tree.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Light / dark modes settings should be reflected accurately in the UI.

It would be so much easier if we could attach screenshots to the bug.

Yes, please attach one. You can use the link above that says "add an attachment". Or here's a direct link: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=156460&action=enter

Please also update to 7.5.5, released recently: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/

Thank you!

Settings

After encountering the invisible text in the right pane, I go to settings to toggle light/dark mode... but the text is invisible/white here as well.

Toggle settings for dark/light mode

I can see text in the drop down lists... so with some trial and error I can toggle and apply the change.

Change back to light mode

I change back to light mode and apply, and the text is visible in settings and in the right pane. The changes stay until I restart.

Thank you for the screenshots.
This sounds like the same problematic interaction between dark/light mode and the macOS accent colour tracked in bug 154624, so marking as a duplicate.
