Description: Autocorrect changes both 6-2 and 6/2 to a date. In my case, I never enter dates with hyphens but do enter this as a text option. I would like to avoid having to remember to add a preceding, single quote each time. I would like to stop Autocorrect from interpreting this as an entered date format. Confusingly I do sometimes use hyphens as date format separators (handy in filenames!) but when entering dates, I never do. I understand that there are workarounds such as setting cell format to 'Text' or switching off Autocorrect altogether, but this is to generate a conversation about the flexibility of Autocorrect options. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enter none date text that looks elsewhere as a date and Autocorrect will 'Autodecorrect' it to a date Actual Results: 6-2 becomes a date such as 2023/02/06 Expected Results: 6-2 is left as 6-2 6/2 becomes a date such as 2023/02/06 Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Null
This is not AutoCorrect related. The relevant setting is Tools -> Options -> Language Settings -> Languages, Formats, Date acceptance patterns. Apparently for your locale (whichever, you didn't state nor copy-pasted the Help -> About information) it contains a D-M there. Remove that and input like 6-2 won't be a date anymore.
Ah, there it is! Thanks, Eike!
