Description nikos 2023-08-24 11:52:40 UTC
Description:
If i change Locale in USA then when i open a file with different Locale, every value is wrong because the decimal seperators, thousands separators and date formats are different!

Maybe a good idea is to save the locale in the file and retrieve it from there when loading the file.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Change program Locale from Options/Languages/Locale
2.Try to open a file with different locale data
3.

Actual Results:
DD/MM/YY turns in to MM/DD/YY
A value 100.252,13 turns to 100 if decimals not defined.

Expected Results:
Dates with DD/MM/YY must be DD/MM/YY
A value 100.252,13 must be to 100,252.13

Reproducible: Always

This is on purpose. The default number formats are locale-agnostic and follow the locale the document is loaded in. If you want values to be displayed always in a specific locale then you need to assign a specific locale's number format.

However, this
> A value 100.252,13 turns to 100 if decimals not defined.
would not happen, so I'm assuming you are not talking about saving in ODF .ods file format but some CSV or other plain text format instead, for which when importing you may have to specify a different locale.

Please provide more information what exactly you are doing, what file format you are using, including what locales you are working in and the LibreOffice version; copy-paste the information from Help->About.
