Description Sunil 2023-08-30 11:50:45 UTC
Description:
When the attached file is opened using LO 7.3 and up, Writer keeps on adding pages on the file whereas the previous versions (and word) shows it in 4 pages.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached inf_loop.docx file.

Actual Results:
The rendered pages go on forever.

Expected Results:
The rendered page should be only of 4 pages long.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The works.docx file has 38 rows. If one row is added then the we get the inf_loop.docx that goes on forever.

LO versions till 7.2.7.2 renders it correctly.

Tested with the following versions to not work correctly.

LO version: 7.3.7.2 -> does not render correctly.
LO version: 7.4.7.2 -> does not render correctly.
LO version: 7.5.5.2 -> does not render correctly.
LO version: 7.6.0.3 -> does not render correctly.

I can't reproduce any, the three sample files has 4 pages, even after inserting new rows.
Version: 7.6.1.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: c7cda394c5de06de37d8109c310df89a4d4c3a98
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: default; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded

Maybe a more detailed step by step could help.

@m.a.riosv
Did you try to open the inf_loop.docx?

If you want to add a new row on works.docx then it seems LibreOffice crashes.

1. Go to the last column of last row of works.docx in second page.
2. Place the cursor on right after $15.00.
3. Press Tab to insert a new row.
4. LibreOffice Writer Crashes.

The inf_loop.docx is generated by a script which adds row for each items.

With your steps, no issue for me with:
Version: 7.6.1.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: c7cda394c5de06de37d8109c310df89a4d4c3a98
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: default; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded
or
Version: 7.3.7.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: e114eadc50a9ff8d8c8a0567d6da8f454beeb84f
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL

Please test in safe mode, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode
Please paste here the information on Menu/Help/About LibreOffce (There is an icon to copy)

@m.a.riosv

I tried again in safe mode. Still the same issue. Please see the attached videos.

Version: 7.4.7.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 723314e595e8007d3cf785c16538505a1c878ca5
CPU threads: 12; OS: Mac OS X 13.5.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx
Locale: en-US (en_NP.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

--------------
I also tried on a windows laptop with fresh LibreOffice install:

Version: 7.5.5.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: ca8fe7424262805f223b9a2334bc7181abbcbf5e
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

The inf_loop.docx file keeps on adding pages.
works.docx file on the other hand does not crash but once the tab is pressed, it starts adding page numbers like with inf_loop.docx file.

Test disabling skia options Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/View.
