3. Edit graphics top right / alternative, save file

Actual Results:
Hangs.

Expected Results:
Should at least save file

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Show normal behaviour.

- use some seconds to open file, not minutes
- save file, not hang during saving
- edit graphics, not hang during graphics

Have checked on PC in the office, but with same result.

Opening goes quicker, but hang on save.
Comment 4 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-05 19:30:42 UTC
Verified on 3.rd Windows PC, this time Windows 11 PRO.

Common for them - Windows norwegian version, Windows Defender (company setup).
Comment 5 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-06 19:13:20 UTC
No problems on Ubuntu Linux, LibreOffice 7.5.5.
Comment 6 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-06 20:00:30 UTC
Bug is definitive in the 7.6.0.3 version.

- tested with Windows PC where I switched off Windows Defender, problem persists (hangs during save).

- reinstalled 7.5.5 version, graphics modifications and saving possible
Comment 7 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2023-09-19 07:39:24 UTC
Can you please test version 7.6.1.2 to see if the issue persists?
Thank you!
Comment 8 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-19 11:38:14 UTC
No, still hangs in the middle of the save process.
Comment 9 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2023-09-19 20:50:27 UTC
Marking as regression as you can't reproduce in 7.5.

I'm not holding my breath but can you please see if the problem persists with forced Skia/Raster?
Turn "Force Skia software rendering" on in Tools ▸ Options ▸ LibreOffice ▸ View.

Please also share the version information with Help > About LibreOffice.

Do you happen to use Windows Speech Recognition? It recently came up that it can cause severe performance problems.
Comment 11 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-20 09:09:24 UTC
Program freezes when going to Tools - Options!

No, Windows Speech Recognition is not active.

Have you tested comment#9, about Skia.
Comment 14 Buovjaga 2023-09-20 09:15:11 UTC
In the Windows Task Bar launcher, go to Apps and search for LibreOffice. You will see an entry "LibreOffice (Safe Mode)". Launch it and see, if the freezing continues (click "Continue in safe mode" in the dialog).
Comment 15 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-20 10:25:28 UTC
Freezes also in LibreOffice safe mode, when going to Tools - Options.

I'm getting an error code when opening a new text document.

Feil da BASIC-koden ble hentet i dokumentet file:///C:/Users/andreas/AppData/Roaming/LibreOffice/4/user/basic/Standard/script.xlb/:

Those are familiar to me from testing another bug: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151741#c3
Solved by resetting the user profile.
Comment 17 Andreas Zieritz 2023-09-20 10:39:14 UTC
New installation, so I had my doubts.

But tried with safe mode, reset user profile.

No change.

Tested once again with a clean Windows 10 Pro PC, same results.

- The 7.6. release hangs, already during startup.
- No problems with the 7.5 release.
Comment 20 Buovjaga 2023-09-29 05:59:24 UTC
As no one else is seeing it so far, you could try bisecting it.

If you are not familiar with the process, you could study the tutorial: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect/Bibisecting_tutorial

Adapt it by cloning the live repository of 7.6 instead of using a bundle, to make things simpler:
git clone https://bibisect.libreoffice.org/win64-7.6.git

You will be using your own file instead of anything from the tutorial example.

First step will be to make sure that the oldest in the 7.6 repository does not freeze and the 'master' in 7.6 repo does freeze. Then treat not freezing as 'good' and freezing as 'bad'.

7.6 Versions used during test

Screenshot of versions used during testing.

Left side shows 7.6.3.0.0 used from Git, right side current download 7.6.2.1
Comment 22 Andreas Zieritz 2023-10-17 20:29:32 UTC
I've downloaded both 7.5 and 7.6.3.0.0 from Github as described in your instructions.

Both versions do not show the freeze, it only appears in the current installation version.

I've also switched the language from default (norwegian) in the installed version to English, but the problem doesn't disappear because of that.

Regarding the Git version I am not sure how to install a different language for the interface, just found a Youtube video showing that this can be done using the installation file.

- git versions don't show any problem
- installed version freezes during save

I see you have Norwegian locale, so I will close as duplicate of bug 157135
