Description Adrián L. 2023-09-13 18:47:58 UTC
Description:
It comes to my attention that using the 'Data > Sort' function on the menu bar when a cell within the pivot table area is selected will automatically cover the whole pivot table. That means any further sorting modification will only affect fields you are working with which is amazing. Nevertheless, I might suggest to uncheck by default the 'include formats' option on the Option tab of the Sort dialog as you may not want to mess with the design of the pivot table at sorting. Also row/columns that contain total/subtotal labels should not be rearranged when sorting pivot tables unless you manually do it so by dragging and dropping them.

Steps to Reproduce:
1- Create a Pivot table
2- Select a table cell
3- Use Data > Sort funtion on the menu bar
4- Sorting

Actual Results:
- 'Include formats' option checked by default
- Sorting Total/subtotal labeled ranges

Expected Results:
- Unchecked 'include formats' option by default when working on a Pivot table.
- Sorting should not mess with Total/subtotal labeled ranges, only data fields.

Reproducible: Always

There are sort option in the header of the pivot table fields, and also in the properties of the fields can be set up to sort.
Doesn't serve for your purpose?

Hi there.

Well It is a little suggestion looking at how both features interact with each other. As you has mentioned it, current sort options are far enough for that purpose and personally I get by with the advanced properties just fine. Feel free to ignore it regardless.

Best regards.
