Description Chris 2023-09-19 07:12:10 UTC
Description:
When a QR code is generated and placed into a cell, it is high definition. When the file is saved, shut down and opened again, the QR codes are of low definition and unusable. When QR codes are generated, is there a way of generating the QR codes with .svg or similar to retain definition?
Thanks

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert OLE Object QR and barcode
2. Paste text into the generator

Actual Results:
1. Insert OLE Object QR and barcode
2. Paste text into the generator

Expected Results:
A high definition QR code that can be printed

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The manual way I have been generating the codes to go into Calc:

1.manual generation - save a generated QR code in Writer. Maximise screen size and copy QR code
2.Paste QR code into Inkscape. Document Properties Resize to content. Copy QR code
3.Paste QR code into Calc and adjust to fit into a cell that is square

Thank you for the report!

I can not reproduce the issue as described: after inserting a QR code, saving and reopening or reloading, the OLE object still looks sharp in Calc.

However, I see that using "right-click > Save" on the QR code saves an SVG file that by default is 0.04 × 0.04 cm (if encoding the URL to this bug report), regardless of how big it is on canvas. This is way too small and should either be based on the size on the document, or use a more sensible default that would straight away be usable when printed as-is.

This can also be shown when copy-pasting the object onto a Writer or Draw document.

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: e472b5b557d2b43b41e488c83db2b188de499610
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Same in 6.4.0.3, the branch in which the feature first appeared.

Dear Chris,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
