Reproduced with gallery extension "Computer science symbols for BTS SIO classroom", which at the time of writing had an update 5 months before. https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/27721 I checked that the downloaded OXT extension could be installed manually without problem. The extensions has the "Gallery" tag on the website. How is that list populated?
The issue is that the listing currently needs to be generated manually. See also bug 137470 regarding what is lacking in the implementation.
Corresponding Redmine ticket is https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/3655 but let's keep this open until fixed.
This has been solved. There is a new script that updates some json files in extensions server which is responsible of the integration. Job is run everyday https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/3780
The problem is only partially solved. The version installed from the Extensions Gallery dialog is allways the very first one. For example, if you install "VRT Network Equipment" the version installed is 1.0.4, even though the current version is 1.2.
Installing the initial version of any gallery extension could result in a significant reputational cost for the extension and for LibreOffice itself, as early releases are often prone to bugs and usually lack update information.
Reopened the Redmine ticket.
Now it works like a charm. The last versions of each gallery appears and are installed when required.
