Description: Hello, My feedback: When you want to change a parameter of a piece of text (font, font size, color, bold, italic, underline, etc.). The selected text could automatically take the form hovered over. In fact, when you don't know which font to use for a piece of text, you highlight the text, go to the "font name" drop-down menu, click on a font and the text changes. The drop-down menu then closes. If you want to try out different fonts, you need to perform the same operation several times and search (scroll) through the fonts. This is very time-consuming. If you could change the font without clicking (by hovering over its name), you'd have a very quick preview. Regards Actual Results: To change the font of a selected text, click on the "font name" drop-down menu > scroll > choose a font > click on it > drop-down menu closes. If you wish to try a different font, repeat the operation. Expected Results: Test fonts by hovering over the font name in the drop-down menu This could be applied to other parameters: bold, underlined, italic, uppercase, superscript, etc.; by hovering over the associated button Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: -
The requested feature is already implemented but resides in the Character... dialog and requires a sample text selection. Place edit cursor into the paragraph --and-- make a selection of text. Context menu --> Character -> Caracter... dialog --or-- main menu Format -> Character... dialog. The text selection will be rendered in the dialog's preview panel as font changes and attributes are adjusted. We've looked at doing dynamically from the Font listbox on the Standard toolbar but have repeatedly rejected that, bug 112324 and dupes. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 112324 ***
The problem remains the same: once in the "character" popup, you have to click on the "Font" menu and click on each font to try it out. There's no advantage to doing so in this dialog box. What's more, you have no visibility of the real modifications that changing fonts (or other parameters) causes to the actual page layout. This would be a real ergonomic and time-saving advantage. Now, I'm just a simple user, I don't realize how much work it takes to develop this kind of functionality. Regards
