Description Eyal Rozenberg 2023-09-29 21:20:31 UTC
I'm using LO 7.6.0.3 with an LTR UI. I see the reddish update indicator on the top-right side of the window, at the other end from the menu bar. But when I get an "update is available" bubble pop up - it pops up on the left edge of the window. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be on the other side.

Build info:

Version: 7.6.0.3 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3

I have observed the same issue previously.
Just saw it in the 7.2 branch today, but pretty sure it existed long before. Furthermore, there are visual artefacts / glitches around the bubble, and it looks very outdated (see bug 138392).

Looks like a gtk3-only issue. No issue in placement with gen VCL plugin.

With gen, the tooltip of the button _is_ the speech bubble, and appears any time I hover over the button.
With gtk3, the button tooltip is the stock tooltip look any button uses, and the speech bubble only appears the first time LO notifies of an update, misplaced.

Also seen in 6.2:

Version: 6.2.0.3
Build ID: 98c6a8a1c6c7b144ce3cc729e34964b47ce25d62
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

To me, it's a regression with switching from gtk2 to gtk3 VCL plugin.
The tooltip appears at the right spot on hovering the update button in LO 6.1 with gtk2.
