Description JYS 2023-10-01 16:03:02 UTC
Description:
I used LibreOffice 7.5.6 and wanted to go to 7.5.7. All my files (.xls, .docx ...) became "read-only" after this change.
I needed to desinstall 7.5.7 and come back to 7.5.6 and everything is OK again. So, be careful with this new version !

Steps to Reproduce:
1.update to 7.5.7.1
2.
3.

Actual Results:
7.5.7.1 : All files "read-only". Inoperable version.

Expected Results:
Go back to 7.5.6.2. No more problem.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I hope for a new "operable" version ...

Hello,

Thank you for reporting the bug.
it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice
Version: 7.6.2.1 (X86_64)
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

I'm a careful user ... ! I was using 7.5.6 version an tried to update to 7.5.7.
But, Ok, I will try to use 7.6.2.1 version and come back to you.

I did it, new version 7.6.2, but same problem (all files "read-only"). I came back again to 7.5.6 version and everything goes well.

I don't move anymore and wait for a new and reliable version.

On Windows 10 x86-64 with LO 7.5.7, I don't reproduce this.

Could you apply this:
- uninstall any LO versions
- download LO 7.5.7 from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/ (you can check hash with https://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/7.6.2/win/x86_64/LibreOffice_7.6.2_Win_x86-64.msi.mirrorlist)
- rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Corrupted_user_profile)
- install LO 7.5.7 (on local drive)
?

Thank you for your answers, but I forgot two important points :

- All versions of LO I mentioned before are french versions ! I don't know if it could be the cause of a specific problem, but I want to stay in my native language ... All versions were downloaded here :

https://fr.libreoffice.org/download/telecharger-libreoffice/

- The same problem appears on my two different computers. LO is installed on the local drive of each computer and I have the same bug.

Is there anybody who use the french versions, with or without the problem ?

Thanks and regards,

JYS

I'm French too, no read-only pb here.

Just for the test, could you:
- create a brand new file with just "test" in it
- save and close it
- reopen it and try to modify and save it again?

https://fr.libreoffice.org/download/telecharger-libreoffice/ is ok.

On which Windows version are you?
Do you have some specific antivirus (I mean not Windows Defender)?
if yes, could you disable it just some minutes to try again to modify your files?

Hello Julien,

You found it ! My antivirus is Avast (free version) and the problem (read-only) disappears when I "suspend" this anti-virus (and reappears again when Avast is active !).

So, I have three solutions :
- Change my anti-virus (but ...),
- Create an "exception" for LibreOffice (wich is not really safe !),
- Go back again to version 7.5.6.2 ans wait for "better moments" ...

I think I will choose the third one and try with future updates ( ?).

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

JYS

You can scan LibreOffice manually with Avast if any doubt.

Anyway, great news! :-)
Let's put this one to WFM then.
