Step to reproduce the bug: 1. Open Calc 2. in any Cell, type a text followed by at least 5 spaces and a colon (:) 3. The software is crashing all the time. Version of LibreOffice: 7.5.7.1, build https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+log/47eb0cf7efbacdee9b19ae25d6752381ede23126 Note that starting in safe mode, the bug is not present. I cannot disable extension however.
I can't reproduce with: Version: 7.6.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 29d686fea9f6705b262d369fede658f824154cc0 CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded Safe mode doesn't delete the extensions except you choose one of the options that do it. In the advanced options, you can make a copy of the profile.
I did not know there is a new version because when I check updates from the LibreOffice 7.5 it did not offer me to upgrade to 7.6 and says there's no update available. I downloaded and upgraded to 7.6 and the issue is still there. Here are the details: Version: 7.6.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 29d686fea9f6705b262d369fede658f824154cc0 CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 11.7.10; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: osx Locale: fr-CH (en_CH.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Perhaps the issue is only with OS X as you tested with windows and not able to reproduce.
Issue does not appear to be specific to macOS. I cannot reproduce the bug with: Version: 7.6.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 29d686fea9f6705b262d369fede658f824154cc0 CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 14.1.1; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Please let us know which extensions you have installed. This will help us narrow down the issue further. (>NEEDINFO)
(In reply to patrick from comment #2) > Locale: fr-CH (en_CH.UTF-8); UI: en-US Just as a hunch, may I ask you to temporarily disable the following features in Calc (in Mac OS the menus and names might be slightly different): * Automatic Spell Checking * AutoInput * AutoCorrect > Localized Options > UNcheck "Add non-breaking space before specific punctuation marks in French text" After disabling those features, please re-test the problematic behavior and report the result here. Then you can reset those features back. A possible additional test could be to temporarily change the default language format from fr-CH to en-US – this is not the same as the UI language.
For the note: I did not install any extra plugins, I just downloaded the package and installed it without any customization. It automatically detects that I am in fr-CH localization. After followed the instruction of 'ady' I can say the faulty module is the third option (I disabled all but re-enabled the 2 first afterwards and the issue is gone.) Then for me there is a workaround and I am happy, but I think my bug is still present with the option: * AutoCorrect > Localized Options > "Add non-breaking space before specific punctuation marks in French text" This option is less helpful in Calc but in Text it can be more useful: unfortunately when disabling it in Calc it is also disabled in Text. I let you to change the status if you think it's really a bug.
(In reply to patrick from comment #5) > Then for me there is a workaround and I am happy, but I think my bug is > still present with the option: > > * AutoCorrect > Localized Options > "Add non-breaking space before specific > punctuation marks in French text" I'm changing the Summary from: "Calc systematically crash after inserting colon after 5 spaces" to: AutoCorrect "Add non-breaking space before specific punctuation marks in French text" CRASH using FR language setting I have not tested the behavior myself, so I'm leaving the Status as unconfirmed for now. We also don't know yet whether the problem is on Mac OS only or for other OS/DEs too.
The original report "Calc systematically crash after inserting colon after 5 spaces" looks very similar to bug 158703, so I really believe this is a duplicated *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 158703 ***
