Description dove.wing@idnet.com 2024-01-01 12:10:03 UTC
Description:
We are (at least I am) VERY tired of the LibreOffice 'doc does not exist' after doing anything useful with it ~ like emailing as a .pdf attachment ~ this seems to be an unneccessarily nonsensical piece of corporate "un-user-friendliness?"

(yes~ I'm aware that people have complained about this. Yet nothing is done. I for one do not innerstand the non-explanation 'explanations' that the keyboard warrior brigade have posited ~ a simple fix is overdue? THANKS !!)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Just try to retrieve your documents!
2.You get an automatic 'Error' message every - time.
3.Tear out hair - lamment that 14-year-old corporate execs run the western world ...and do something about it.

Actual Results:
Einstein was at least right about doing the same thing and expecting a different result ~ I am doing step '3' above.

Expected Results:
The 'fix' will not render revisiting LibreOffice documents an absolutely useless 'experience' where they are still tantalisingly visible. Do realise how ridiculous that feels? Whose 'Error' is it?

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
As above.

How exactly? Opening from Start Center's Recent Documents view? Opening from File - Recent Documents? Some other way?

Hello Buovjaga

Opening or trying to retrieve a document from what I believe is the first, upon opening LibreOffice ~ the Start screen ~ the one that shows all docs one has laboured to produce and then some fail to reopen whence ~ eeeek! ~ Error! document does not exist!

Ok, so this is about Start Center displaying already-deleted documents. See bug 101302 for a discussion on why this is not done automatically (would cause serious issues) and how there is now a way to do it manually. Click the hamburger menu button at the top right of the Start Center interface and choose "Clear Unavailable Files".

If you don't mind, I would close this report as a duplicate of bug 101302.

Bug 101302 got marked fixed for a invalid reason, I guess. The proper solution was described at bug 101302 comment 41... however it hasn't been implemented

The multi-threading idea was resurrected as a new easy hack: bug 158985. I will close this as duplicate of it.
