Description: I am running a machine with WIN 7 pro. I have been using LO 2.5.4 and created a document in Writer with many "cross references". When I installed LO 2.6.2 and opened this document the cross references would not work. Firstly, the text throughout the document is uniform, i.e. none of the cross-referenced words is highlighted. If I hover the cursor over the link the cursor changes to a finger, indicating that a link exists but when I click on the link nothing happens. I felt that this would probably be picked up and corrected but when I installed LO 2.6.4.1 I have the same problem Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Writer 2.Load .odt file 3. Actual Results: Cross references are not highlighted (after resetting UserProfile the links are highlighted but links still do not work) Cross reference links do not react when clicked Expected Results: Cross reference links should react and take me to the cross-referenced target Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: As mentioned above. I tried resetting my UserProfile. This corrected the issue with highlighted Cross Reference links but the issue with the links not working still exists
LO 2.5.4 or 2.6.4, first one was 3.3 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice). Please uninstall all LO versions you got and install 7.5.9 or 7.6.4 by download from official website (see https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/)
Also, you'll need Win7 SP1 minimum. Moreover, I'll advise you to upgrade Windows version since Win7 extended support ended in January 2020 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7).
LO 2.6.4.1 is an unknown build. Please post content from the Help -> About LibreOffice panels "Version Information" button.

Would it be possible you attach the file directly? I mean, I see no links in your image, just some words with spelling (in red) or grammar (in blue) false positive issues. Have in mind that any file is automatically made public so you can sanitize it if needed (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission).

On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 24.2.0.2, it works by doing Ctrl-click not just a click.
(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #10) > On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 24.2.0.2, it works by doing > Ctrl-click not just a click. I tried this and the Ctrl/Click works. However, The links are still not visible and one is not even aware of them unless you hover the cursor over them. For my purposes this is a retrograde step. A feature that worked perfectly well in LO 7.5 and does not work in LO 7.6, except through a clumsy workaround, is really unsatisfactory. If this was a deliberate change then it has only made this feature less efficient but if it was not a deliberate change then surely it is a bug that needs to be looked at. What would you suggest is my next step? I would like to thank you for the help you have given me in trying to resolve this problem
Heiko/Xisco: I don't use crossreference but I saw some tutorial and indeed the link was grey (like in a TOC) so I think it's a regression but perhaps I missed something.
Does toggling the field highlighting per Ctrl+F8 or via the View menu what you want? (In reply to Paddy from comment #8) > Created attachment 192049 [details] 1000+ pages is a hardware challenge. The example could have been just the first page. (In reply to Paddy from comment #5) > Created attachment 191926 [details] > Screen print of page where links are not highlighted You can click the button next to Version Information to copy the data into your clipboard.

Thanks, yes, Ctrl F8 does solve the highlighting problem. I can manage with using Cntrl-Click to activate the link but I still think this is a retrogressive step as a single click worked previously. I was asked to send the entire document so this is what I did, but I take your point
So highlighting works, keep also in mind that hyperlinks with a target inside the document may be an alternative. The remaining question is whether clicking a references should navigate directly to the target. This might be familiar with browsers but you lose the ability to select the text; or you have to be careful with clicking. You can also not change the content anymore; admittedly only relevant for hyperlinks. I think we run into trouble when changing the interaction and recommend to not do it. Feel free to reopen the ticket and we can discuss the proposal in a larger group.
