When I want to enter an accented character, I normally hold down the <alt> key and  enter a 4 digit number.
Now, when I try to do this the side bar appears(which is not what I want).

Can this be fix (undone)?
Please advise.

Please attach a detailed version of your LibreOffice, as this makes it easier for us to verify the bug.
You can do so by clicking on Help (when opening LibreOffice) ▸ About LibreOffice ▸ Version information:  ▸ then  press the copy symbol.

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the complete version information is provided.
