Description Mark Coetsee 2024-01-18 09:36:32 UTC
Description:
When linking a footnote to a custom list style, the footnote number doesn't take on the 'customise' attributes, such as removing the full-stop after the number. Whatever one does, there is always a full-stop after the number: "1." instead of just "1".

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create custom list style
2. adjust customise to remove full-stop after number
3. link footnote paragraph style to custom list style

Actual Results:
There is always a (for example) full-stop after the footnote number when if the custom list style used in the text body the full-stop is absent (as expected)

Expected Results:
A (for example) full-stop always appears after the footnote number

Reproducible: Always

My apologies: the expected result is no full-stop after the footnote number -- a full-stop always appears after the footnote number when it has been disabled in the customise section of the chosen list style

Please attach a sample file, and paste the information in Menu/Help/About LibreOffice, there is an icon to copy.

Go to Tools → Footnotes and Endnotes → Footnotes tab and delete the dot on the "after" field.

Footnote numbering is not managed by list styles, it's its own thing controlled in the aforementioned menu. You need to eliminate the list style for the footnote paragraph style and use the tools on the Footnotes and Endnotes menu to control the numbering scheme. (You can also use the character styles indicated in that menu to control how the number look, but for more info on that ask on the forums, not here).

If this solves the problem, please change the status as RESOLVED → NOTABUG.
