Comment 1 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2024-01-20 00:56:01 UTC
Reproduced in OOo 3.3 as well as:

Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 8b393bba91111bd4f8988457f3a78b0306462bf2
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Clearly a bug, as typos have the wiggly red underline in comments too, and right-clicking one offers "Spellcheck", which opens the dialog but does not include the comment's spelling error.

Surprised I could not find an existing report for Writer, given that the issue is inherited (there is one for Calc in bug 63567).

Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI: en-GB

an otd that shows the bug

Unfortunately, I uploaded it as a plain text file, a few minutes ago. Now, it is uploaded as an odt file.

Use an up-to-date 24.8 version of libreoffice to test the bug.

That confirms the but that I found.
Comment 6 Stéphane Guillou (stragu) 2024-01-26 03:55:19 UTC
Indeed, if it was set to "new" (i.e. confirmed by a second person), please leave it as "new".
Glady, can you reproduce with the sample document?
Comment 7 gladys 2024-01-26 09:00:00 UTC
Hi Vena,
Thank you for the OTD document you attached.
I have a clearer picture of the bug.
I managed to reproduce it in the 24.8 version.
Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 861e83d1e74a718462ba524695cfa6ccb13bf7db
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

and it as well appear in the 7.6 version.

When pressing F7, the spelling check dialogue open with some suggestive correction word, but it doesn't actually correct the text itself. Furthermore as indicated in comment 2 the dialogue doesn't include the comment box.
In order to correct the text itself, each word have to be right click.
