Description Karl 2024-01-18 12:17:13 UTC
Description:
Dear HIGHNESSES of Development of Software !

... let me have a joe to you ...
I updated LO to first 24 Version RC2 today.

" As it ever was " ( reminds me to some popular pop song - i cant get in mind )
but long ago
i posted " the same precidiure as every yer " ( known for european people )

===============

Tha main package *.msi as well the help package installatet FINE !
TOO
the " sdk.* package !

===============

BUT:

in the SCREEN SHOT of my windows apps overview,
YOU see,

what has happened NOW, and BEFPORE on the sdk.msi

==================================================

It might be WINDOWS ( winthin some Intelligence / or not ),

BUT it might be the -> LO INSTALLER

===================================

I think, that there is a ( very minor ) reason to check,
what the difference on the installers of the 3 packages is.

kind regards

FIRST: Have a nice day ( and life )

see screenshot

Steps to Reproduce:
1.have a nice day
2.
3.

Actual Results:

Is it fun - to invent "funny" wording, so that reading it and trying to understand what's the problem becomes a pain?

Is the problem as simple as:

"Installing a new SDK using MSI package does not replace previous installations, and installs side-by-side; see the screenshot"?
Comment 3 Karl 2024-01-18 14:05:12 UTC
Hi,

it seems to be replaced ( i dont know how to examine it // do once had the idea to "try " to program a tool )

WHAT SEEMS to me:

There is every time left
- I GUESS _

some registry ( windows // cann not tell anything in linux )
ENTRIES

THAT are NOT " cleaned " anyway - NO REAL HARD CORE BUG !
=============================================================

BUT i looks, the installation ( tool / method ) on "sdk"
is different ( might be not THAT ON TIME )

like the installer of help / main package.

=============================================================

What is left, i show,
EVERY YEAR
here in this BUGZILLA.

Got me ?

BEST regards to you.

Might have one have the time the to look after !?

REALLY : NOT THAT HAVY !

HI
again,

I can tell, that " dont know OLD PACKEGES "
can be DEINSTALLED ( from within windows ) : QUIET NICE !

TAKE VERY VERY VERY few time: ... One might guess - there is anyhow " nothing to do"

JUST clearing up ( I DONT KNOW ).

Best wishes.

Please make simple sentences (subject-verb-complement), stop the gibberish style and focus on the bug instead of using irony/"fun" stuff.
Then just answer Mike's question.
Comment 6 Karl 2024-01-19 11:37:47 UTC
OK !

I installed

1) LO - MAIN
2) LO - Help
3) LO - SDK

What is left on my windows 10 System are the old packages of LO - SDK.

SHORT sentences enough ?

regards to the developers.

amused ?
Comment 7 Mike Kaganski 2024-01-19 11:44:41 UTC
SDK packages are created to be able to install side-by-side; this is done for purpose. The SDK packages are only needed to developers creating extensions / add-ons for LibreOffice. A developer might depend on some specific version of the API. Therefore, the SDK is by default installed into directories with version in the name.

This is not a bug.

HI

THANX for declaration.

1)

I thaught about ( somewhat ) left
( my win system ) UNDELETED Registry ( -> regedit.exe )
entries // or such else ??

2)

OR:
May be the installation routines
( for sure I think :: on the main packages LO + help ) - THESE ARE UP TO DATE
on the Linux / Windows Systems ( but can not tell about Linux - because I use W10 )
---

AND // OR ( might be )
the developers " did not " force " developement time on
" SIDE APPS - like sdk " ( normal users do eventually SELDOM use especially dont install )

==================================================================

THANX !
REGARDS to you // AGAIN for declaration

Out of THIS !?

DOES a LO - USER
need SDK to have MACROES ( anyhow : collecting clicks/ keystrokes german
// dont know in your language ) ?

To programm small (?) basic apps ( inside a chart or so )
or use - there is some " LO - java - inside " ?

===============================================

IF it is NOT nessecary to have installed SDK
to create some individual SUCH " tools "
( again ) ... Basic / Macroes )

---------

on the download -page/-site a hint could be inserted " you dont have to download, if only you want to create some ... "

===========================================================================

THANX again

No, it is not needed - nor for macro recording, nor for writing them in Basic IDE.

The SDK is separate; all the tools user needs are suggested in the thick boxes on the download site. There is unlimited number of things that are *not* needed; trying to create a list that is *not* needed is not needed itself (aside from being impossible). This "problem" seems to appear the first time ever; so definitely not something to clutter the download page with.

HI
Mike Kaganski !

OKY DOKY !!!

May be for such " Hmm - Newbies , that like to
EXPERIMENT programming )

a " hint " could be useful.
//I can spare the downloading sdk in future
===============================================

I give YOU !! THAT RESOLVED !

Best wishes
