hi, It is very strange that we can't control, as it seems, where we land on startup... a New Document, the latest Session*, or the Start Center... I mean, this would be a great enhancement! Meaning: an option in the menu.. like Tools / Options / "on startup show: ..." Firefox has this :) That is, billions have this "UX" on a daily basis... * I'm aware that sessions don't exist (yet :)) Peter . . . . . THANK YOU for developing Libreoffice! . . . PS: the other enhancement could be making the start center available anytime... from the "Window" menu... (it could be called anything, document center, control panel, whatever.. doesn't need to be called start center and thus be restricted to a startup window)

This popular request is tracked in bug 77590. UX/design team, what do you think? Has such a setting been discussed before? There's the challenge of the current startup behaviour being different on macOS vs others.
It depends on the OS how LibreOffice starts, and the workflow (eg. starting from an existing document). Any solution needs a use case, just adding an option because it's known from other, not even similar applications is not a good reason. Personally I sympathize with the idea to restore the last session or to store different documents in a project (aka session). It's a bit orthogonal to the current workflow meaning such a session would have to be somehow accessible from the start center, and maybe needs selective presentation for the MRU. For this particular ticket I'd rather resolve as WF.
