If clone formatting is used to apply the attributes of a 'normal' paragraph to a paragraph in a list then the target paragraph should leave the list.

Confirming. Word 2016 removes bullet&numbering from the target paragraph if the format painter copies a paragraph that has no bullet&numbering. Oliver Specht committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/a5e2f4a8419a09d3a7d4118328824a5ea7ed2d6b tdf#159342 switch off lists in clone formatting It will be available in 24.8.0. The patch should be included in the daily builds available at https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours.
