Description Haubenreisser 2024-01-28 10:47:12 UTC
The display of letters when entering text is slightly delayed (sluggish letter display). The effect occurs regardless of the size of the document.
This leg when entering the text is not significant, but it is annoying.
If you type letters in quick succession, the output of the letters stops. If you stop the fast typing of the letters , all letters will be displayed.
There seems to be a bug in my LO Writer module that slows down the output of the letters.

This time delay only occurs when using text processing with LO Writer.
However entering text into a “Text Field” of LO Writer occurs as usual without any time lag.
No time delay when entering text occurs also when using LO Calc, LO Draw or LO Impress.
There is also no time delay with other word processing programs, such as Open Office or WordPad.

Now some system informations:
Installed Libre Office version:	7.2.5.2 (x64)
Windows specification: Windows 11 Pro, Version 23H2
Installed RAM : 16 GB
Libre Office RAM size: 343 MB

What is the cause of this strange effect ?
Is reinstalling Libre Office recommended ? If yes, which version ?

In order to solve my problem I have installed LO version 7.5.9. But the program often crashed when I scrolled the cursor over a writer document or a spreadsheet. That wasn't a solution either.
Finally I decided to install the latest LO version 7.6.4. I haven't noticed any problems here so far.

My conclusion is that you have to put a lot of effort into finding a Libre Office version that runs securely and without errors on your computer.
For laypersons, it is practically impossible to find the causes that lead to the malfunctions of the LO software.
Unfortunately, my experience is that the only way out is to find the right Libre office version

Finally a recommendation from me:
If you use a Libre Office version that operates stable und error-free and meets your needs, then you should stick with this version. You should only use a new version if there are very compelling reasons.

Good to read. So let's close this bug as RESOLVED WORKSFORME. Feel free to change it back to UNCONFIRMED, if the bug still appears in this version or a more recent version.

No. If you install stable version (actually LO 7.6.4)you have an actual and most stable version. If you want to use the latest features you should always install LO fresh (actually LO 24.2). You always find both versions on LO download page.
