Description Piotr 2024-01-30 15:15:09 UTC
Description:
When I move an object horizontally, with high precision, Alt + Left/ Right, it moves as it should.
Vertically, nothing.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. draw a frame in Writer
2. select it
3. try to use vertical granular movement: Alt + Up, Down

Actual Results:
Selected objects, photos, frames, text fields don't move.

Expected Results:
As for centuries, it should move the object vertically.

Reproducible: Always

Can not confirm, a frame inserted onto Writer canvas with focus (its frame "grabs" visible) moves precisely in all directions with <Alt>+ U,D,L,R cursor keys when using a 104 key US-keyboard.

While the cursor keys from Numpad (8 up, 2 down, 4 left, 6 right) have different mappings, I don't think those would ever have been usable.

Works fine.

Piotr: is the problem new with 7.6 or has it always behaved like that?

Inkscape has the same shortcut for higher precision. Does vertical moving with Alt+Up/Down work for you in Inkscape?

Thanks, I use this, no numpad, just arrows on the right:

Sorry can't provide with the exact specs, no such thing on the website.

Buovjaga, new thing. Always worked, so I am surprised.

It also works on the VM, with Win XP:

Wersja: 5.1.1.3

In a way this is good news :)

First of all, you could try in Safe Mode: Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode.

If the problem continues even in Safe Mode, you could look into bibisecting it with 7.6 (I assume with 7.6).

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bibisect/Windows
https://bibisect.libreoffice.org/win64-7.6

I can provide support and guidance, even in a screensharing call, if needed.

Ahh, then it is not a lot of work to solve, especially if you don't have many customisations to keyboard shortcuts, menus, toolbars etc.

In the Safe Mode dialog you can select Reset to factory settings - Reset entire user profile.

I will close this as it's a profile issue.
