Description joey.joey586 2024-02-05 17:09:33 UTC
Description:
In LO 7.5 and older, the Properties window (File > Properties) can comfortably fit within small displays.

Since LO 24.2, the Properties window exceeds the vertical height in some smaller displays, resulting in buttons on bottom right of properties window beyond reach, and no way to resize the window even with keyboard shortcuts.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any LO app (writer, calc, etc) on a computer with a small display
2. Go to File > Properties
3. Observe the Properties window size in both LO 24.2 and LO 7.5

Actual Results:
In LO 7.5, the Properties window can fit inside my laptop's 11-inch display.
In LO 24.2, the Properties window is too large that the buttons on the bottom right is beyond reach, with no way to resize the window.

Expected Results:
The default properties window size in 24.2 should be the same as in 7.5 and older, or the window should be resizable by the user to any size.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
My laptop has an 11-inch 16:9 display.
I have only tested on Linux with Xfce desktop, haven't tested on other OSes.

Can't reproduce on Windows builds, the dialogs open ~637px in height.

Is this some facet of os/DE scaling in place?

Windows versions of LibreOffice

Same thing happens on Windows, but it's less of an issue.
It only becomes a problem (on Linux) when the system theme has larger proportions or higher scaling.

I think I found the problem. LibreOffice 24.2 introduced extra fields in File > Properties > Description and I think that's the reason why the window is stuck on a larger size.

A solution would be to add a scrollbar in order to make the window size more flexible.

Can someone please confirm?

(In case anyone asks, the window sizes shown in the screenshots are the smallest they can be resized to.)

This is actually bug 159409 (IMHO), not a see also. Marking as duplicate
