Description: When opening the application, the select template dialog appears, but sometimes with no focus and hidden behind other windows. If the main application is maximized and then restored, the menu bar is invisible, although mouse hover reveals the position of each menu. Double-clicking on the invisible menu bar maximizes the window. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open impress 2. Do not select a template 3. Maximize main window 4. Restore it by either double-clicking the menu bar or pressing the restore button Actual Results: The menu bar disappears Expected Results: The menu bar to be visible, as normally does Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Even if the select template dialog is open, the menu bar of the main application should not be affected.
I am not able to interact with the main window while the template picker is open. I tested 6.4 and and 7.6. Can you please test a currently-supported version, 7.6 or 24.2? Thank you.
Sorry, 6.4.7.2 was the latest version provided by Canonical for Ubuntu 20.04. I'll add the PPA and upgrade it.
I've updated to Version: 7.6.5.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 60(Build:2) CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: pt-PT (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-GB Ubuntu package version: 4:7.6.5-0ubuntu0.20.04.1~lo1 Calc: threaded The issue persists. Although it is not possible to interact with the application, it is still possible to interact with the menu (File Edit View ... Help). It is also possible to double-click the menu to maximize the application.

- Are you able to share a video or at least some screenshots of what this issue looks like? - Have you somehow activated the "global menu" on Ubuntu (i.e. the window menus integrated into the top panel)? - I assume you are using GNOME, given that I see gtk3 in your version information. But can you confirm which desktop environment? - Do you use Wayland? (If on GNOME, go to Settings > About > Windowing system) (Sounds a bit like bug 149728, bug 152362 and bug 156387.) Thank you!
Created attachment 192866 [details] Screen recording of the issue I've made a screen recording of the issue. As long as the template dialog is open, the title bar becomes invisible, but it is still possible to interact with it. My desktop environment is Unity and I'm not using global menus.
(In reply to maloureiro from comment #6) > My desktop environment is Unity and I'm not using global menus. OK, so you are using Unity's global menu, but Unity has been dropped from Ubuntu for a while now, and it's status as a community project seems unsure. Are other applications affected by the same issue? I'd suggest moving to GNOME if you can, and if you want to keep using the same global menus, install one of the global menu addins to emulate the same behaviour. Michael, what's your opinion on this? "Won't fix" as we can hardly continue supporting Unity in its current state?
I tried on Gnome and the title bar doesn't become invisible. It does seem to be a Unity issue.
If you are happy with using GNOME, and seeing that similar issues have existed for a while in Unity[1], I think we can close as "not our bug". Please set back to "unconfirmed" if you think otherwise. (In reply to Stéphane Guillou (stragu) from comment #8) > Michael, what's your opinion on this? "Won't fix" as we can hardly continue > supporting Unity in its current state? Sounds reasonable to me, comment 9 and comment 11 sound like this might indeed be an bug in Unity rather than LO.
It will take a much serious bug to make it worth it to go back to GNOME, even though Unity is mostly obsolete. Thank you for the time you spent on this.
