Description MohammedEttahir 2024-03-02 15:04:12 UTC
Description:
Whenever I start Libreoffice, even without opening any file (it does not matter if it is Writer, Calc ... etc) the "System" process shows a high CPU usage , even if Libreoffice is just sitting in the welcome screen doing nothing.

Right when I close LIbreoffice, the "System" process drops to 0-1 %

I want to emphasize that the RAM usage is at around 50%, so it is not Windows dealing with the swapping/pagefile.

I have tried:
* Playing around by disabling Skia, hardware acceleration ...
* Updating the drivers
* Formatting my laptop

But the bug persists anyway.

My specs:
- Windows 10 22H2 x64 fully updated
- 8GB of RAM
- Intel Core i7-1165G7
- 256 GB SSD

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Libreoffice
2. Wait a while and the laptop/PC fan will ramp up !

Actual Results:
Open Windows's task manager, to see the "System" process with a high CPU.

Expected Results:
The System process should not have a high CPU usage.

Reproducible: Always

I manager to solve the issue by simply affecting the integrated graphics to Libreoffice in the NVIDIA controller panel.

For some reason NVIDIA control panel decided to use the NVIDIA GPU for Libreoffice.

To fix this, simply go to the NVIDIA control panel, select the Libreoffice executable, and then select "Integrated graphics".
