hi, It'd be great if in some way the application icon in the TASKBAR (the desktop element) would indicate "modified status"... just a dot... or something.. :) Firefox indicates download status, for example... :) - - - 2 perhaps this could also be indicated in NAVIGATOR's window list - - - 3 IN the Window menu, too.. modified status could be indicated... NOTES: The point is to see if we're all good before closing down the application... Cause when we have to save changes or omit them on closing down, it's hard to find out what the last modification was... (it takes some time to fiddle with CTRL+Z and Y :) - - - thank you for developing Libreoffice and Writer - - -
Wait, each of the Icon themes already supports this as visible on the LibreOffice Status Bar, additionally there is a tooltip on mouse-over indicating "The document has been modified. Click to save the document" Marked all, but manipulating the Win7 era Jump list on the WDM 'Taskbar' would require native Windows code. Not very appealing to work outside our UI for os/DE integration. But, adding the same widget from the Status Bar to the Sidebar Navigator deck might be appealing. Maybe appended to the upper Toolbox? Likewise, expose state on the LibreOffice main 'Window' menu. @Jim, any thoughts on the Navigator facet?
In bug 159073 the opposite was requested, ie. to remove the save state indicator from the status bar (and made a duplicate of the enhancement request to customize the status bar). There is also bug 152947 claiming not all icons are usable for color impaired people. Besides we show the state in the toolbar icon by changing the save icon. (IIRC there was also an asterisk in the file name at the title bar but this was removed intentionally). Ultimately this has been requested before in bug 84198. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 84198 ***
