As implemented [1] at 24.8 for bug 124098 the expert configuration "RecalcOptimalRowHeightMode" stanza takes a value of "0", "1", or "2" Default value is "0" and row height of table cells in calc sheets are recalculated on document load (ODF and OOXML [2]). Value "1" by-passes recalculation of row height. Value "2" prompts for user input in a pop-up dialog. Not available to set in the UI, and setting in expert configuration persists until reset, or to default with clear of user profile. =-ref-= [1] https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/163421 [2] https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/164721
(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #0) > Not available to set in the UI It is available in the UI. tools - options - Calc - Formula - OptimalRowHeight - Always Recalculate
Oops, I missed there was an optformula.ui entry, and that 'Optimal row height:' control is available in UI fro the Tools -> Options -> LO Calc -> Formula 'Recalculation on File Load' section. Plain as day... But, still think it needs a description in Help. Both the UI and the Expert Config stanza.
Hi Help can be updated, no problem. My (side) comment is about help on expert configs. First it will be a huge task, with consequences in translation. Second, such configurations misuse are source for tons of headaches for support teams in organizations, with costly calls to the Help Desk. Third, who never heard "I didn't do anything", "Yesterday it was working" or "it worked on MS Office", "that <expletive> LibreOffice"... from our beloved users. Cheers.
Olivier Hallot committed a patch related to this issue. It has been pushed to "master": https://git.libreoffice.org/help/commit/8db831e3f0dce474924168d18e4f8d23fc29f731 tdf#160179 Recalculate row height at load times
Help entry for Calc Tools -> Options -> Calc -> Formula "Recalculation on File Load" for "Optimal Row Height" has it covered. https://help.libreoffice.org/24.8/en-US/text/shared/optionen/01060900.html?System=WIN&DbPAR=CALC&HID=modules/scalc/ui/optformula/rowheightrecalc#bm_id21712590967776
