Description: When I highlight Row 1 (highlight row 1, right click, "Freeze rows and columns" / highlight row 1, right click, R), the action has no affect. Row 1 is now never frozen. Steps to Reproduce: 1. highlight row 1, right click, "Freeze rows and columns" 2. highlight row 1, right click, R 3. Actual Results: Row 1 is not frozen, so can not be seen when scrolling down the sheet to work on rows with a higher number, in my case, any row above 50 Expected Results: Row 1 should be visible when working on rows further down the sheet Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: This can be very disruptive when working on large sheets Version: 24.2.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: db4def46b0453cc22e2d0305797cf981b68ef5ac CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22000; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI: en-US Calc: CL threaded
I can confirm presence in version/environment with details below: - Version: 24.2.2.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: d56cc158d8a96260b836f100ef4b4ef25d6f1a01 CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-CA (en_CA); UI: en-GB Calc: CL threaded
Click on B2. View - Freeze Rows and Columns. Row 1 and Column 1 will freeze. Indeed, what you have described it is not working in Version: 24.2.1.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 359ef544e625d2ffbfced462ab37bd593ca85fa7 CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 6.5; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: ro-RO (ro_RO.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
If you want Row 1 to be "frozen", you have to select Row 2 > View > Freeze Rows and Columns, or, select Row 2 > right-click > Freeze Rows and Columns, or menu View > Freeze Cells > Freeze First row (whichever the selected area). Please note that the frozen area does not include the selection, but goes from "Home" down to the prior row and to the prior column in relation to the selected cell/area. IOW, if you want to freeze the first row, you have to select the 2nd row and then select the action you described in comment 0. IOW, the procedure you describe is not the adequate procedure in order to obtain the result that you attempt to achieve. > NAB.

Well explained, thanks! Like the original submitter I misunderstood the functionality. How about advising a user of the inability to "freeze" row 1 in case that row is selected? A message to the effect: "Selected row cannot be frozen. To freeze row 1, select row 2 and reattempt."
