Description Alfred Epprecht 2024-04-05 14:02:00 UTC
for some time LO crashes mostly when using two writer documents or calc. All have been reported but no action has been taken. Today recovery did not work and I lost substantial amount of data (writing a chapter of a book!!
Assuming it was caused by hitting some key combination I removed short cuts. Now I am completely stuffed as I am unable to work normally without the ability to use some keys like Bakspace, page up/down, etc. I am no expert and close to 80 years old

Please attach a sample file, reduce the size as much as possible without private information, and paste the information in Menu/Help/About LibreOffice, there is a copy icon.

Did you try to reset the user profile of LO?

You speak German? Have a look here:

this is overwhelmingly far too complicated for a normal user. Just fix the problem. I am also unable to install latest update since you disabled automatic download

Really appreciated, but without access to the crash report, or without an example document or precise steps to reproduce the issue, no version details, it is close to impossible to fix the issue.
Next time, please share the crash report link as text rather than a with a screenshot.
The crash report is: https://crashreport.libreoffice.org/stats/crash_details/b1935b92-581c-4d4a-b160-4cea34ab168e

Indeed, the last actions were backspace and save.

The crash signature is still present in 24.2.2, but I'd still recommend updating to the latest version (currently 24.2.2), and working with a new user profile. For that, you can rename your directory so you don't lose anything. For example, rename /home/your_username/.config/libreoffice to home/your_username/.config/libreoffice_backup

Let us know if that helps, and if you find out about steps that consistently reproduce the crash, we would very much appreciate you describing them.

Thank you!
