Description Bert 2024-04-20 08:55:09 UTC
Description:
When I save a sheet from my calc ods file as csv, I choose tab delimited.
I check the file with a text editor and can confirm tabs are used as delimiter
I open the csv file again to do some editing and save it again.
The file is now comma delimited.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Create a spreadsheet in calc.
2) Save sheet as C as csv, Choose tab delimited in the dialog box
3) Ceck the file with a text editor and confirm tabs are used as delimiter
4) Open the csv file again to do some editing and save it again.
5) The file is now comma delimited.

Actual Results:
A comma delimited CSV file

Expected Results:
A tab delimited CSV file

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This is slightly anoying when using the files in an other program that doesn'
t autodetect the delimiter correctly. Or if there are commas in the data, which was the reason for choosing tab delimited

We are aware of this issue and working on it. The previous feature of allowing saving/loading the entire configuration of Import dialog will be preserved.

@Bert Could you provide the csv source file that generated current issue ? Or something similar if you cannot share the original one? It could help us improve the detection algorithm.

Mmm. I tried to reproduce the bug for the purpose of sending an example.
But I can't reproduce it anymore?!? On the one hand that is good news. But I am still at a loss what I do different now than when I did encounter it.
If I find out, I'll report back. But for now this is closed from my side.

Regards,

Bert
