pdf example

openSUSE Tumbleweed
LO 24.2.3.2

since recent update

The created PDF with "export" is very big.
Instead of for example 300 KB, we get 6.5 MB.

The PDF contains only 1 page with 1 picture.
The picture is inserted with "insert > media > scanner"
The scanner gets an ISO A4 grayscale 600 points picture.

Comment 4 promeneur 2024-06-07 07:27:22 UTC
I always use "direct export"
Comment 5 m_a_riosv 2024-06-07 09:38:14 UTC
You can increase the compression at export and play with the resolution.

The problem in the image having an 18 MB size.

Right click on it and select Compress, then reduce the size to what is good for you.

But not a LibreOffice bug.

Perhaps I did not well explain the problem.

I never used "export to pdf format".

I always used "export directly to pdf format" then I never touched any settings.

I always got a pdf with 300-600 KB size.

Since recently I get pdf with about 6 MB size.

Something changed.

You say it's not a LO problem. Are you sure ?

If it is not a LO problem, does LO use an external software ?

Export direct to PDF is the same thing as export to PDF, in fact, export direct to PDF uses the parameters that are in export to PDF.

And as was explained, the problem is with the size of the scanned image that is in the odt file. Please read again the comment#5.

Your image has a lot of gray background, surely the reason to be so large.

LibreOffice can't do anything, if you not change the options or compress the image.
