Description:
The spell check feature in OpenOffice Writer fails to detect errors in certain scenarios, specifically when words with special characters are used.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open OpenOffice Writer.
2.Type the following text
3.Activate the spell check by either pressing F7 or navigating to Tools > Spelling and Grammar.

Actual Results:
The spell check feature does not highlight words with special characters as misspelled, thus missing potential spelling errors in the text.

Expected Results:
The spell check feature should recognize words with special characters (such as '@' in this case) as misspelled and highlight them for correction.


Reproducible: Didn't try


User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This issue persists across different documents and after restarting the application.
The language settings for spell check are set to English (US) with default configurations.

Also, this ticket is currently tagged for Android Viewer 3.3.2, which seems incorrect, and LibreOffice 3.3 is hopefully outdated.
