Description Óvári 2024-06-28 23:21:07 UTC
Description:
Rename FORMULA() to renamed to FORMULATEXT() as the function returns a formula as a string.

It can also help improve the UX and helping users transition to LibreOffice Calc from Google Sheets and Microsoft Office.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/formulatext-function-0a786771-54fd-4ae2-96ee-09cda35439c8

Steps to Reproduce:
Homogenize FORMULATEXT() function across LibreOffice Calc, Google Sheets and Microsoft Office.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice Calc shows =FORMULA()

Expected Results:
LibreOffice Calc show =FORMULATEXT()

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Opening MS Excel spreadsheet with =FORMULATEXT() shows as =FORMULA()

It seems better to have =FORMULATEXT() show in LO Calc too.

What do you think?

Thank you

-1

The function has been called "Formula" since the first translation from the German StarOffice (the ancestor of OpenOffice.org, Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice), about 25 years ago. That is 15 years before Excel even had this function.

Right.
