Description: Portable Apps provides its own message when a new *portable apps* version is ready. If I succumb to the LO 'update available' icon it will install the non-portable version. Suggested amendment: Please recognise when LO is running as a Portable version and make sure the 'update available' icon (a tiny globe) is not visible in the top right hand corner (same row as the File, Tools, Help menu choices). Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run Portable LO after a new version of the non-portable version has been announced, but it is not installed yet 2.Notice the 'update available' icon at the top right 3.Succumb to your instincts and click on this. You WILL NOT update your portable version of LO. 4. Note that your Actual Results: I have not succumbed to this icon for several years, but my memory os that it installed the whle of the new version of LO on my PC Expected Results: Innocent users will hope to update the Portable version of LO. The icon should recognise that this is a portable version and hide itself. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: If you want me to "...copy the information from menu Help - About Libreoffice" as suggested below this text box, the message ought to allow a user to highlight parts of it and copy them. Another way is to have a command button labelled "Copy this info."
I have categorised the above as a bug and not as an enhancement because the 'update available' icon misleads users. It can (probably will) result in an unwanted install of LO on a machine over which the user has no control if he/she is running the portable version from a memory stick.
I would close this one as NOTOURBUG. But let's wait other opinions
Cloph: any thoughts on this?
