Description Àlex García 2025-02-25 10:32:17 UTC
Description:
On Windows, since several versions ago, setting up LibreOffice to load on startup, from the installation wizard, isn't working. If you want it to load on startup, you must do it from Tools -> Options -> General, once it's installed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Initiate installation wizard
2. Check "Load LibreOffice during system startup" option
3. Finish installation, reboot or log out / login

Actual Results:
LibreOffice is not loading, so systray icon isn't shown.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice loads on background and systray icon is shown.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
It works if you set it up in Options after installation. It happens in newly installed systems, so it's nothing related to old configuration garbage.

You didn't provide any version info. It is important, no matter what you may think - e.g., there was a change in v. 24.8, which made it auto-applied *on the first program run after update*.

I install LibreOffice to my customers since years ago, and I can't remember the first version this started happening, but I'm sure it was version 7.x or before that I have to configure it post-install, regardless if I do it during install or not.

I just had now the time and the thought to fill a bug report about it.

Last two installations I made, both x86_64:

25.2, previously deleting C:\Program Files\LibreOffice and %appdata%\LibreOffice.

24.8 on a newly installed Windows 11 24H2 system.

But I mostly make clean installs on clean systems since many years ago, and I've been seeing this behaviour _at_least_ since versions 7.x, without exceptions.

I got the same results after re-installing, and checking "Load LibreOfficeDev during system start-up". When starting my computer, it does not load LibreOfficeDev. Nor is it set in tools > options > general > LibreOfficeDev Quickstarter. However, I didn't touch the %appdata% files.
