Description Heiko 2026-01-22 11:48:14 UTC
Description:
When switching between pull down menu entries, the updated seems to be disconnected from the parent menu entry, gets its own title "soffice.bin" and is misplaced to the center of the window or just disappears.

Steps to Reproduce:
a)
1. Click on "File" in the welcome screen.
2. Move the mouse pointer to "Tools".

b)
1. Click on "File" in the welcome screen.
2. Move mouse pointer downward to "Wizards" or "Templates"

Actual Results:
a) The menu entries from "Tools" appear in its own dialog in the middle of the welcome window.
b) The sub menu entries are shortly displayed in its own dialog that immediately disappears.

Expected Results:
a) The sub menu entries should appear directly under "Tools".
b) The sub menu entries from "Wizards" or "Templates" should appear.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
All components (writer, calc ...) and not only the welcome screen are affected.

When happening, a console error is being displayed: qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()

Please post details of your Linux distro and the Desktop Environment you are working with and details about the LibreOffice build.

You may be able to copy it from the Help -> About LibreOffice dialog, but if not please manually enter.

I played a bit with the environment variable SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN.

./soffice -env:SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5  -> Problem occurs.
./soffice -env:SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt6  -> Works fine, no problem.
./soffice -env:SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5  -> Problem occurs.
./soffice -env:SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf6  -> Problem occurs.

Also, if start LO with -env:SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf6 the "About LibreOffice dialog" shows "kf5" and not "kf6".

Strange.
