Reproduction instructions: 1. Create a new drawing. 2. Insert some shape on the default layer (which should be "Layout"); say, a diamond 3. Switch to another layer using the layer bar at the bottom of the window (e.g. "Dimension lines" 4. Insert two other shape on this layer, say a disc and a rectangle 5. Active the Navigator (e.g. using F5 or choosing the Navigator sidebar deck) Expected result: A visual separation of the disc and the rectangle from the diamond, indicating their being on separate layers Actual results: All three appear together as children of "Page 1"
This has been discussed extensively over the last years. See bug 56498 "Add Layer manager window / Enhance the Navigator" and https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2016/07/31/how-the-navigator-may-support-object-handling-in-libreoffice-draw/ for the proposed solution and let's handle the request in bug 90244 "SIDEBAR: Enhancing Navigator in Draw". Maybe Jim wants to work on the Navigator in Draw... :-) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 90244 ***
Bug 90244 is a large kitchen sink discussing many issues over many years. I've decided to create a new Meta-bug to track individual issues regarding the Navigator in Draw. This bug should either be declared a dupe of a different bug about the same subject or stay up and move the relevant parts of the discussion in bug 90244 here.
