I have a feature request for a pretty basic feature which is to be able to replace the page border or for that matter any border on the page with images that get copied along the border.

Word has for page styles "WordprocessingMLArtBorders". That is a fixed set of images, that can be used for page borders in Writer. Supporting these feature is already requested in bug 94657.

Even this reduced way of Microsoft Office is not a "basic feature".

Current workarounds:
(A) Generate an image in Draw and put this image as background to the object. (B) Use the tool "Text along path" on a rectangle together with symbols available in a suitable font and anchor the rectangle to the page header (Writer) or to put it on the master page (Draw/Impress).

In case you want something different, please give more details and reopen the report.
