Description vohe 2011-01-15 14:37:17 UTC
Hi folks,

don't know if this is the right place for a feature request.

If i drag drawing objects with (many) different layer's into the gallery or between two draw document's the loose their layer information.
Is there a way to store this within the objects?

Regards,
Volker

Some enhanced layer handling would be great. Additionally I would like to elements retaining layer during copy paste and similar Operations. for example, when you have 3 circles in layers 4,5,6, select all 3, <control+c> for copy, change to layer 7, <control+v> for paste, all 3 new circles will be in layer 7. That's annoying for particular use. I have technical sketches with such complex multi layer elements. Reason is that I want to be able to make visible or invisible parts of the objects for different use. But after a copy / paste (because I need 2 more or less identical objects in the sketch) I have to change layers for the parts of the new object manually.

But I'm afraid that a completely new layer concept will be required for these needs.

On Hackfest Hamburg, April 2018, we have decided to start a project for improving handling of layers and internal structure. In case you start to work on this issue get in contact with Regina (rb.henschel@t-online.de) or Armin (Armin.Le.Grand@me.com). It might be that you touch that project with your work.
