Background: In Word 2007 and later, the document shadow (the shadow drawn outside of the paper boundary) uses gradient, whereas in LibreOffice it is mono-color. We should also use gradient shadow there to improve its visual appearance.

Perhaps we can check the code that draws the gradient shadow in the start center window and do something similar.

Skills: building, debugging, C++, some knowledge on graphics API.

This has been fixed in LibreOffice 3.4.
