Currently, only "Color" and "Graphic" are allowed as possible table background options. It would be nice, and would also increase compatibility with MS Word, if "Hatching" would be supported too.

Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html
Dear bug submitter! Due to the fact, that there are a lot of NEEDINFO bugs with no answer within the last six months, we close all of these bugs. To keep this message short, more infos are available @ https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/NeedinfoClosure#Statement Thanks for understanding and hopefully updating your bug, so that everything is prepared for developers to fix your problem. Yours! Florian
in 3.6.2 not implemented yet. Reopening
Seems like a good request (although I've never once used this feature in MS Word) ;) Marking as: New Normal (can prevent high quality work under certain circumstances, I changed this from Enhancement as it becomes a problem when importing a .doc or .docx that has this formatting) Low (not affecting many people as far as I know) Thanks for reporting
Hatching in the table cells : highly desirable, as well as mosaics points.
Patches more than welcome. This is an enhancement -- I accidentally moved it out of this category but it is one. In general enhancements take a much lower priority than real bugs -- like bugs that result in loss of data or crashes. But feel free to dig into the code and try to implement this.
The upcoming ODF 1.4 will allow background fills hatch and gradients in addition to color and image.
