Problem description:

If the option "Extended tips" is chosen, tips of the status bar are not always displayed correctly. In Writer this problem occurs for the first two items (page number, page style) and in Calc for the first item (sheet number). I did not check the other LO components.

Depending on the position where you move with the mouse cursor into these fields, the Extended tip box is displayed completely (correct) or only a small part of the box is displayed at the bottom of the screen (wrong). The same behavior occurs when you select "What's This?" (in German: Direkthilfe) from the menu and then move the cursor to the status bar. More details see attachment.

With the English(USA) user interface, this behavior does not exist, because extended tips of the status bar are not displayed with my installation not at all. Hence I added screen shots of the German UI to the attachment.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Writer with new document with Germen User Interface
2. Menu: Hilfe -> Direkthilfe
3. Move mouse cursor to first item of status bar as described above

Current behavior: Extended tips box of status bar is not always displayed complete.

Expected behavior: Box should be displayed complete.

Bug still exists in version 5.0.3. Meanwhile also with the English UI.

The bug only occurs if you position your LibreOffice window at the lower left corner of your screen. It seemed that LibreOffice first checks if the tool tip can be displayed more left. If this check fails because the tip would be displayed left outside the screen, a new position is choosen. And with this position the tool tip is only partly visible.

The bug is still reproducable with version 5.3.0. (Win7) Hence set status back to NEW.
The bug is reproducable with verison 3.3.0. Hence inherited from OOo.

@Aitor: I was not able to reproduce your problem with the toolbar groups neither with version 5.3.0 nor with older versions (4.0.6, 3.3.0). I think this is or was another problem.

Checked with version 6.2.2. Due to bug 120538 this bug can't be reproduced. But I think it still exists.

Reproduced in recent master build for both English-US and French-France UIs: no extended tooltips whatsoever in the Status Bar.

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 19e9fe7c8c89399753ac1730e1c76378b18418bc
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Harald, can you still see the issue with tooltips going off-screen?
