Mac OS X Lion offers useful auto save and versions management: http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/auto-save.html When both work together it is much better than standard auto save feature and saving manually new versions of file. It would be nice to have LibreOffice whit this.
Full Screen added to the title. It would be great to see that feature in Libreoffice as well.
Bug 39983 covers adding Lion full screen support so probably worth removing it from the title of this bug so this one covers just suspend/resume.

This is a good idea; therefore removed "full screen" fromthe summary again. Changed Status to "NEW" (IMHO this is a valid and reasonable enhancement request).
Hey guys, can we agree that Lions versioning was not as cool as adviced in practice?! I seriously hated TextEdit killing the "save as" keyboard shortcut and forcing me into odd new windows. I for one would not like LO to behave this way. Besides that, highly doubt, this feature would ever get implemented. It's OSX only and would lead to different LO behaving depending on the platform you use it on. I am really not sure that would be a good idea.

The different behavior depending on the platform exists today (not just in LO, it is more common) - for example: how to display application's Options window on OS X, Windows and GNU/Linux? For most of applications it will be: OS X: Application Name > Preferences, Windows: Tools > Options, GNU/Linux: Edit > Preferences It is nice when application works in the same way on each platform but in the same time application behavior should match to the platform. > I am really not sure that would be a good idea. It's always preferable when the application plays nice with the operating system. NeoOffice seems to have found a better way to match these two features without deactivating the save as feature. I personally support this feature, but in the meantime it shouldn't be a priority, LibreOffice first should take care of the usability problem in OS X, improve application response in general, then it might make sense to implement this.
Moving back to NEW as at least one consistent contributor agreed with the proposition - we don't close bugs just because a single person doesn't like the idea, instead we approve and if someone ever wants to implement (which is probably not likely, but you never know) they can choose to do so. Changing title to remove Lion, as things have moved on since then, and it would be good to have this generally supported within LibreOffice
I just came across the browse and revert functionality in macOS. This is very cool but apparently has to be allowed to happen by the program itself. Have a look at http://osxdaily.com/2015/06/16/revert-to-prior-version-file-mac-os-x/ to see examples of this in action. The browse and revert functionality just saved a few hours of work for me within another application. It continues to be offered in the base OS and given the new changes and updates to this functionality in macOS 10.13, this is a pretty solid OS related option. Please consider reviewing enabling the program to allow the OS to version and revert files. I think this would be a great addition to the Mac version. (In the mean time, the autosave does help but doesn't allow you to get to earlier versions of the document)
