Steps to reproduce: 0. Start Impress 1. Insert->Movie and sound, select any video or sound file, leave "Link" checked 2. See on Edit->Links Expected: it works and I can break link to media file so file becomes embedded Actually: it greyed out reproduced in 3.5.1 on Fedora 64 bit and Windows XP 32 bit PS: functionality of embedding media added in 3.5 version. Before this was not possible. My thanks to developers for this useful thing. So, it is just unfinished feature. Described in step 2 functionality is important, because during creating and editing presentation is not sense to embed media files: it will greatly slow down saving and loading of presentation. But after editing is finished, it is very handy to embed all into one file. Then presentation can be copied and distributed as one file and nothing will be lost.

UX team: I think the details of implementing this could be discussed and decided. Bug 131198 has a mockup, attachment 158494 [details].
We have many requests around hyperlinks. For Writer it is requested to use the respective character styles (Bug 108170 - Hyperlinks don't highlight 'Internet Link' entry in character styles list), in Calc you cannot change links at all (Bug 156849 - can't overwrite auto-applied formatting of Calc hyperlinks (underline, font colour...), and the same is true for Draw/Impress (Bug 108180 - Hyperlinks in Impress/Draw dont have underlines). Tools > Options > Application Color allows to overwrite the system settings, typically blue, with any other color. Links in Impress follow this setting, despite it does not known whether it has been clicked. Insert > Audio or Video... adds an icon or a preview from the video. Not sure what exactly the STR are.

(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #22) > Insert - Audio or Video: tick the checkbox for Link. Select a video file. > Now see Edit - External Links. It's disabled. In contrast to linked images; audio behave like movies.
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #21) Didn't understand your comment. Anyway, what I don't understand is whether the problem is that A/V links don't "count" as links, which is a deeper bug, or whether it's just the menu item being incorrectly disabled.
We discussed the topic in the design meeting. This issue seems to be a bug and should be solved. Whether the external links dialog deserves improvements is another question and should be handled in an extra ticket. The number of duplicates and people on CC justify a higher importance.
