Document exhibiting the unselectable behaviour.

Problem description: If an image is added to the header of a document then moved out outside of the header margins, it is no longer selectable and can't be changed or removed from the document.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create an empty document.
2. Insert a header.
3. Insert an image into the header with an "optimal page wrap".
4. Move the image outside the header margins (into the centre of the page, for instance).
5. Unselect the image.
6. Attempt to select the image again.

Current behavior:
The cursor changes to a pointer as if the image is selectable, however clicking the image only selects whatever is behind the image. The image is not selectable.

Selecting the header and then clicking the image exhibits the same behaviour.

Expected behavior:
The image should be selectable in the same way as any normal image.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/536.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/19.0.1084.46 Safari/536.5

Selecting the header first and then the image works for me.

My Steps with Server Installation of "LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) and some other versions I tested:
1. open Document from LibO start center
2. Click into "Header Text"
   > blue "Edit Header" pulldown becomes visible
3. Click into the middle of the blue part of the color line picture above the text
   contents
   Expected: Picture becomes selected
Actual: Caret becomes flashing left from the picture.

To get access to the color line picture above the text I have to

11. click color line picture BELOW the text
    > Control points appear
12. Click color line picture ABOVE the text
    > Control points appear, I can move or edit the picture anchored in the
       page header

So for me the porblem still exists, still [Reproducible] with parallel installation of "LOdev 4.0.0.0.alpha0+ - ENGLISH UI / German Locale [Build ID: a2b3ee)]" {2012-11-22} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with separate /4 User Profile for 4.0

@Christina:
I can't reproduce your WFM, how exactly did you get access, with what OS and so on?
Comment 4 Christina Rossmanith 2013-01-11 17:56:49 UTC
Sorry for the delay.

I've misunderstood the bug - so my WFM does not hold anymore. Can reproduce it on linux with Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: dea1f7d962534d7fb4ee23238472457663a796e)

Looks like this was confirmed by Rainer - moving to NEW.

To reproduce:
Create a new document with the attached template (named Template https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=110975 ).
Make a page breake to go to page two
Select the logo (fail)

To solve:
Select the logo on page one
Select the logo on page two (success)

Please notice that none of the two logos appears as images in the navigator!

I cannot reproduce from blank document.
The problem occurs on Windows and Linux.

Could this problem be related to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67379 ?
Comment 8 Leif Lodahl 2014-12-18 09:19:38 UTC
Found a way to reproduce:
If the image is protected (content, position and size) the image can't be selected with the mouse.
Can still be selected from the navigator.

(The attached template has two images that soesn't appear in the navigator)

Bug still exists in version: 5.3.0.3
Build ID: 1:5.3.0~rc3-0ubuntu1~trusty1.1
CPU Threads: 2; OS Version: Linux 3.13; UI Render: default; VCL: gtk2; Layout Engine: new;
Locale: de-AT (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

Tested the file attached in Comment 6.

The workaround mentioned in Comment 7 to focus the image in page 2 is still working.

Dear Ash Kyd,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
