Created attachment 69355 [details] Sheet with frozen column. Please see attached sheet. Column A is frozen. If you insert a comment into cell A (when columns B,C,D are visible) the 'comments box' is visible. Delete the comment from A, and using the scroll bar, move the sheet to the right so that only column D is visible next to the frozen A. Try inserting a comment into cell A again, and the field does not show (it is in effect hidden 'behind' the freeze (being on column B. I don't know if it is a bug or not. Is this behaviour by design? I would have expected the comment field be be 'dynamic' relative to cell A, and remain 'On top', regardless of where the 'rest of the sheet cells are' underneath. David
reproducible with LO 4.0.1.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit)
I can confirm bug in LibreOffice 4.0.2.2. I have never seen any version on Windows, Linux or Mac OS X where this doesn't happen.
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 55133 ***
Reproducible with LO 7.6+.
This only seems to happen if there is not another comment in Col A; and for the first time I do this. When I delete the comment in Row 4, the icon in toolbar remains greyed, need to select another cell, then return to Cell A4 to create new comment If I try to add a comment when I am seeing Col A,D (B, C hidden) comment is not visible, if I move scrollbar back so that cols B, C reappear, then it becomes visible. Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 529dce3d5b695637a1ccc8b4b697d87c5db0d3a2 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-GB Calc: threaded
Created attachment 188584 [details] only half of comment is visible This used to be a problem when it was in the frozen Row, it is now, but I have a vague memory that this was fixed at some point.

Dear David Clayton, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
