File with non-primitive custom shape with polar handle

Open attached file. It contains a not-primitive custom shape with a polar handle. Export the file to ppt, pptx or OOXML.
Open the exported files in PowerPoint 2010 or in PowerPoint 2013. PowerPoint reports an error with these files and cannot "repair" them.

On the other hand, of you open the attached file in PowerPoint 2013, it opens fine including the handle in the shape, and saving from PowerPoint 2013 into ppt, pptx or OOXML works and retains the handle.

Open with MS PPT Viewer:
* .ppt: works, but shapes crippled
* .pptx MSO 2007: Message as reported
* .pptx OOXML: Message as reported

I will do some further research (when did that start and so on) soon
Comment 2 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-01-04 16:07:23 UTC
When I try to open .pptx saved from 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ with MS PPT Viewer I get the very general error Message "Error when access ...". I see this message in several other Bugs, but none of them is similar.

Comment 3 Julien Nabet 2013-01-04 18:08:51 UTC
Could it be a kind of dup/related with fdo#58391 (put in "see also")?
Comment 4 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-01-04 19:14:29 UTC
@Julien Nabet
I checked that one.
Might be related, but not a DUP! That sample document can be opened after saved as MSO2007 .docx from "4.1. Master" with MS PPT Viewer without problems.

I agree, if someone is fixing one of these 2, it might be appropriate to check the other one, too.
Comment 5 Regina Henschel 2013-01-04 20:25:57 UTC
LO exports the shape as element <a:prstGeom prst="rect">, but it need to be a <a:custGeom>. Otherwise you cannot define handle, path, and formulas.

It seems that never worked?

I wanted to learn some more concerning self created shapes, you see the results in "Bug 59046 - FILESAVE as .pptx (MSO2007) destroys self constructed shapes", what is related and might simply be a DUP

At least shapes still vertically squished when saved as .ppt, both in LibO & PPT Viewer.

The error still exists in LO5.2

The handles are missing.
Comment 11 Timur 2017-01-05 17:24:45 UTC
Regina, please test with master, now that Bug 59046 is resolved.
Both LO-master saved ppt and pptx can be open in MSO now.
Export to ppt (not good) and pptx (rather good) is different and bugs might be separated.
Please attach some screenshot with explanation for polar handle.
Title should be updated to precisely define bug, and "invalid .pptx" is not correct.
Comment 12 Regina Henschel 2017-01-06 21:59:42 UTC
PowerPoint 2010 opens the file now without "repair" message. But the shapes are still wrongly exported. The handles are missing and the right shape is at a wrong position.

resaved be PowerPoint

This is the file after PowerPoint opens the *.odp file and it then resaved by PowerPoint to OOXML format. You can use it to examine, how PowerPoint uses a polar handle.

the shapes are exported as <a:custGeom>. But the handles are missing. So it is still not fixed.
