Sample document to test

If formula contains only one parenthesis or bracket (f.e: "left none A right)") then conversion to M$Word2003 document gives wrong results.

For example open attached sample document and convert it to Word2003 document. If you open that DOC in LibO and refresh formula (by double-clicking that formula) then you see that around letters appears two parenthesis (should be only one). If open that DOC in Word2007 and refresh that formula the you see that right bracket jumps to left side.

 Attached sample document.

This bug also exists in LibO v3.6.4.3

updating version to 3.6.4.3

Our version field is oldest version we see the issue, not latest it has been tested on. We use comments to say "also exists in version x.x.x.x.

Thanks!

This bug also exists in version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 4b45b7b3ea06cd9d172c438ed8f2507f8150e99) from GIT (master, checkout on 2013-04-16).

Hello Valdas,

Why not write in this case:
A \] newline
B \) newline
\( C newline
\[ D

Have a nice day,

Jacques
Comment 4 Valdas 2013-06-29 17:26:15 UTC
Hello Jacques,

suggested workaround fails when scalable parenthesis is needed, for example:

 matrix {A#B##C#D} \]
Comment 5 Joel Madero 2013-06-29 19:52:35 UTC
Confirmed - another detail is that if you double click into the formula before closing the document the first time (open the document, save as 2003, immediately click into formula) you won't see the change. But if you close the document, reopen it, then click in and you'll see the change.

New
Major - loss/alteration of data
Medium - default is high but I don't think that this is affecting many people at all - no comments in the past 3 months or duplicates marked.

Thanks for the report!

correction

only with with docx it is ok.
Comment 17 paulystefan 2021-05-17 12:33:47 UTC
The doc of this ODT is with actual ms office not viewable.

empty sheet in view.

in LO 7132 is only an object like a photo, but no formula object.
so this convert is failed in LO 7132.

Should future LO support export to old doc?

Import is ok, but MS Office 2016 and higher is the better importer of doc with repair and converter to Docx.

The DOCX of this ODT is ok.
Comment 18 paulystefan 2021-08-05 20:48:41 UTC
see no positive change in LO7202
Comment 19 paulystefan 2022-06-16 12:56:49 UTC
See no positive change with DOC in LO7342.

DOCX is ok.
